when Anthony John from Clinitas will deliver the lecture titled titled

“Tender Loving Care aka Tear Layer Care”

He will speak of the products available for the dry eye market and also give an overview of the dry eye marketplace.

Both prior to and after the talk Tony Wyatt, Clinitas Representative, will be available to discuss Clinitas products and will have on hand samples.

The March meeting will be held on Tuesday 31st March 2009

The speaker will be Howard Griffiths from Sauflon who will deliver the lecture titled Welcome to the next Silicone Innovation-Clariti the 3rd Generation”.

Howard will give an overview of the silicone hydrogel lenses available and how the new 3rd generation materials address the problems of the 1st and 2nd generation materials.

Sarah Janikoun BCLA President

Sarah Janikoun will present her BCLA Presidential Address:

Visual rehabilitation – I can see clearly now’

Her presentation will discuss the use of contact lenses for correcting high efractive error and irregular corneas including correction for children. "In comparison with more deprived parts of the world, we're very fortunate in having contact lenses as part of our armamentarium to restore sight to people who would otherwise be seriously visually impaired,' said Dr Janikoun. 'We have to know our ocular anatomy and physiology, but if we are brave and well informed, we can help people to achieve much more than they imagine and support them in their struggle to see."

"Multifocal Contact Lens Fitting in Practice"

Glen Ward - Independent Practitioner and Consultant to Mark  Ennovy contact lenses specialising in multi-focal contact lenses.

Glen will examine multi-focal contact lens practice including Patient selection and managing Patient expectations and the fitting of various multi-focal lens designs covering cases from the relatively straightforward to complex toric.

- there will be a buffet hosted by Mark Ennovy from 6:30 to 7:30

Lynn White consultant to Ultravision -  "Keratoconus on the High Street"

Lynn will give an introduction on how to manage keratoconus patients
including use of topography and the latest Silicone Hydrogel Lenses for
the condition.

Dr Martin Cardell  - FINDING THE RIGHT SOLUTION-IT'S MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE

 

In the presentation Martin will provide eye care practitioners with an evidence based review of the science behind the solutions. Special emphasis will also be placed on describing the role of today's care systems including disinfection, cleaning and conditioning ,updates on FDA and ISO efficacy standards for contact lens care solutions. Insights will be shared on how the next generation of care products may be designed for a safe and optimal contact lens wearing experience. Martin is an Optometrist and a graduate of UMIST. He completed a PhD in 2006 at Aston University on the subject of  changes in ocular physiology in response to physical exercise. He is currently Director of Professional Affairs for Bausch and Lomb United Kingdom.

Dr Alan Saks - "One Day at a Time"

 

In the presentation Alan will provide eye care practitioners with evidence of why one day lenses are best. Alan will talk about the latest daily lenses including silicone hydrogels and dry eye resistant polymer formulas. He will also give an insight into future concepts including optical enhancements and some unique features which will enhance the contact lens industry.

Alan Saks is a New Zealand based Optometrist. He has lectured worldwide on the subject of contact lenses and is notorious for his no holds barred approach to speaking.

Dr Saks presentation will start 7:00 pm
